Roscosmos is a Russian Federal Space Agency. Roscosmos is the government agency that is responsible for the Russian space and science program and general aerospace research. Headquarters are in Moscow and the Main Mission Control space flight operations is located near Korolev. The training center is in Star City. In the 1990's it had major financial problems due to decreased cash flow which encouraged the company to find other ways to keep the space program running. Luckily, the Russian economy grew in 2005 which gave FKA a budget of 305 billion rubles (11 billion US dollars).
The Soyuz is Roscosmos's spacecraft the carries people and supplies to and from the space station. The spacecraft can hold three people total and if there was an emergency the people would use it to return back to earth.
During the space race Konstantin Tsiolkovsky's work helped them throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Pockocmoc launched the world's first satellite, Sputnik. The space company achieved many of the world's firsts like the first man in space, Yuri Gagarin; first woman in space, Valentina Tereshkova; first lunar flyby, Luna 1; and the first three person crew, Voskhod 1.
Currently, Russia is trying for a major mission to Mars, ExoMars, by partnering up with the European Space Agency. ExoMars' first leg, Trace Gas Orbiter, was successfully launched in 2016, but a rover was delayed for two years until it will be expected to launch in 2020. Many reports have said that Russia is interested in robotic moon missions.
